Permanent make-up and artistic tattoo: real difference between these two related worlds.
by Toni Belfatto
One of the
cultural phenomenon that has taken an increasingly important role in
recent years is certainly that of the
tattoo, to be understood in the broadest sense of the word.
Specifically, permanent makeup, tattoo artist, and para medical
tricopigmetation are just some of the terms used to indicate a
specialized aesthetic characterized by joint action: using disposable
needles to inject certain pigments in the dermis, the layer of skin
where they are deposited pigment molecules are to create for example,
an arched eyebrow, or a scar around the areola (ie, at the edge of
the areola) or to draw an indelible but powerful tribal heart. These
aesthetic universes have many common characteristics. The key
differences, however, are mainly: technical, chemical and
motivational. The first relates to the equipment and materials used,
the "machines". These machines are characterized by
different structures and especially heart rate and higher frequencies
for the classic tattoo, slower and softer for the permanent makeup.
Even the needles play an important role in diversifying the number
and shape, reaching up to 41 needles in a body tattoo and only seven
in dermopigmentation. The second, chemical differences, mainly refer
to the pigments used, which are certainly of a different nature from
the point of view of being chemical and organic, but especially in
the micronization of the molecules. In fact, the coloring molecules
for micropigmentation are characterized by less than 20 microns in
order to be ingested by macrophages, digested and disposed of in a
period not predictable but certainly permenant. As opposed to the
pigments used in classic tattoos which are larger, creating an
inability of phagocytosis in the face of unlimited persistence.
Another key difference is the presence of acrylic resin contained in
the pigments used in tattoo art which prevent the ingesting of these
dyes substances by macrophages. It is necessary and proper that all
equipment and pigments, in both specializations correspondence with
the law, must be accompanied by certificates of compliance, safety
data sheets together with certificates non-toxicity and safety.
Speaking of motivational differences, regardless of whether it's an
artistic tattoo or permanent makeup, the reasons for a tattoo
treatment are truly endless. Sure enough there is a certain
subjectivity and, as such, reasons must always be respected although
sometimes they may seem incomprehensible. Tattoos often emphasize an
important moment of ones life, to remember a loved one, to celebrate
the birth of a child, or simply for pure aesthetic pleasure. These
are just some examples that may justify a decision to have a art
tattoo. They are, perhaps, more immediate and understandable reasons
for choosing a permanent makeup which must always be recognized as a
correction, that is designed to alleviate facial imperfections - less
bushy eyebrows, an imperfect eyelid or an imperceptible ciliary
rhyme. Permanent make up is very useful to enhance and harmonize the
facial features in terms of aesthetics in order to impart a greater
feeling.
