It is important to remember that all equipment used during treatment is sterilized and disposable and in accordance with the governing laws. Additionally, to avoid indirect cross-transmission of pathogens all items required for permanent make-up procedures from the couch, stool, trolley, disinfectants, and dermographic machines, modules will be completely covered with disposable linings. The operator wears PPE (personal protective equipment) such as gloves, gown, mask, cap, splash guard and leggings.

All operators who perform the treatment are in possession of qualifying certificates allowing them to operate in the recognized region. They are identified as "operator of tattooing and piercing." This is a separate qualification to that of beautician. It is a specific qualification as stated by the law 1 / 90 which provides that a beautician can work only on surface tissue. The treatment of applying permanent makeup is a practice involving the introduction of pigments in the dermal tissue necessitating this separate qualification.

DESIGN OR DESIGN TRAINING

Before starting treatment a selection of colours will be chosen for use in initial testing and experimentation, this selection will depend on the client's skin color, hair, eyes. With the chosen pigments and a sterile pen a design is made according to the Visagist’s study of the clients face that takes into account physical features, architecture of the face and the expectations of the client. A sterile pen is always used and rather than classic make up pencils for the initial design as classic make up pencils are not sterile, biocompatible, and could potentially cause allergies, infections, or color change when working on the finished design. Different design options will be experimented with and carried out considering the form, height, length, thickness, and other aspects which inevitably change the appearance of non-verbal gestures. Only when the operator's design marries 100% with the aesthetic taste of the client, will the permanent treatment begin.

TIME USED FOR THE FIRST SESSION

Approximately two hours is required for the design, treatment and execution of the permanent makeup .

PAIN

During the session a dull sensation is felt which is more of an annoyance than a pain however this will be minimised and eliminated by the use certain desensitizing agents.

DURABILITY OF TREATMENT

The duration ofpermanent makeup depends on several factors:

• age of the customer (in the young reabsorption and consequent elimination of the pigments by macrophages will be faster);

• sun exposure (sunlight or tanning lamps increase of rate of the process of phagocytosis in the skin);

• scarring sensitivity of the client’s skin;

• technique used;

• color used;

• histological features of the client;

The Board of Toni Belfatto reviews the treatment within 8-12 months. This time period provides a more cost effective solution as it allows for any variations in colour to become clearly visible in order to determine if it is necessary to carry out further reinforcement treatment.

POSSIBLE SECOND SESSION

After running the first session of permanent makeup, there is a mandatory period of 28-40 days in which cell mitosis of the scar is complete. Historical experience tells us that 6 out of 10 treatments performed do not need a second reinforcement. However, every clients’ treatment is different therefore a second session may be required in order to perfect the work.

During the second session, the make-up could be different in color and minor structural changes may be necessary as a result of cell renewal that inevitably generates a different perception of work.

COST OF A PERMANENT MAKEUP

As each individual case is unique it would be unprofessional to list a single price. The cost of permanent make-up depends on several technical and anatomical factors: it depends on the treatment area, the presence of obvious flaws to correct, the technical expertise involved, the time required to carry out the treatment and the equipment used.
